SNOW DAYS (calamity days)

Winter is upon us, here are a few guidelines we follow during inclement weather.

First, all parents and staff will be notified of a delay or closure through our call messenger system.  If you think your number is not listed or updated, please let us know.   Also, the local media will be notified if there is a school delay or closure.  Therefore;

  • If there is a two hour delay, all staff and students will start two hours later than normal.
  • High school grades 7 - 12 would start at 9:30 a.m. rather than 7:30 a.m. and students should report to their 1st period class where attendance will be taken.  The students will then follow the 2 hour delay schedule.
  • Elementary grades K – 6 would start at 10:30 a.m. rather than 8:30 a.m.  Students should report to their home room. (Breakfast will not be provided on 2 hour delay days.)
  • Bus schedules would likewise move two hours later in the morning.  If a student were picked up at 7:00 a.m., a two-hour delay would mean a pickup time of 9:00 a.m.. Dismissal times at the end of the day would remain at the same time as any other school day.
  • If Lowellville Schools are closed and the MCCTC is open, there will be no transportation to the MCCTC provided by Lowellville Schools AND Lowellville students are excused from attending the MCCTC.
  • If Lowellville Schools have a 2-hour delay and MCCTC does not have a delay, Lowellville MCCTC students report 2-hours later for their transportation.
  • We hope these guidelines assist you with planning for any delay or closure due to inclement weather.  Sometimes, it is a difficult decision whether or not to close or delay school but keep in mind that safety is our primary concern!   Regardless if school is delayed or cancelled, students, parents, and school personnel should always use their best judgment and caution about the conditions of the individual roads which they must tr.avel.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact your school
