The Lowellville High School Music Department is proud to announce that band members Nick Kacir and Maria Mangine were selected as the 2018 Senior Soloists for the Henry H. Stambaugh Concert Band. Nick will perform the first movement of the Gregson Tuba Concerto, and Maria will perform highlights from the Arutiunian Trumpet Concerto, with the Stambaugh Band at its Spring Concert on Tuesday, April 10.
Maria Mangine is a senior at Lowellville High School, where she participates in the marching, concert, pep, and jazz bands. She was selected as principal trumpet in the 2017 Northeastern Ohio Regional Orchestra. Maria has also participated in Ohio All-State Band, Ohio Band Directors’ Conference Honors Band, Ohio State University Honors Band, District 5 Honors Band, Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra, Stambaugh Band, and the Lowellville Mt. Carmel Band. She has participated in Solo and Ensemble Contest for six years, playing both piano and trumpet, and receiving superior and excellent ratings. She has studied trumpet with Mr. Don Stimple for three years. After graduation, Maria plans to pursue a degree in Music Education. She is the daughter of Michael and Loraine Mangine.
Nicholas Kacir is a senior at Lowellville High School, where he participates in the marching, concert, pep, and jazz bands. Nick has been selected as the principal tuba player in the Ohio All-State Orchestra for the past three years. In addition, he has served as principal tuba of the Northeastern Ohio Regional Orchestra, Ohio Band Directors’ Conference Honors Band, Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra, Henry H. Stambaugh Concert Band, District 5 Honors Band, and Lowellville Mt. Carmel Band. He has participated in Solo and Ensemble Contest for six years, receiving superior ratings each year, and has taken Class A solos since eighth grade. Nick has studied tuba with Mr. Robert Antonucci for six years. He is one of the valedictorians of his graduating class, and he plans to pursue a degree in Biochemistry at Youngstown State University following graduation. Nick is the son of Steve and Lori Kacir.
The Henry H. Stambaugh Band Spring Concert will be held on Tuesday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in historic Stambaugh Auditorium. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students/seniors. Tickets can be purchased at the door the evening of the concert or online at stambaughauditorium.com.
