2017-2018 September Newsletter
Welcome to our new school year. I am very excited for the new year! This year I will be teaching the second grade with Mrs. Nord, third grade with Mrs. Matisi, and fourth grade math with Mr. VanKirk! Together we will service the students with special needs with a team effort using co-teaching models with your child's best interest in mind.
I will try to send out a monthly newsletter throughout this school year. However, you can call at 330-536-8426 extension 120 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org at any time with questions or concerns.
Below you will find some resources to use with your child at home during the school year:
http://ode.state.oh.us. Practice reading strategies of reading unknown words as not to frustrate your child, point to words to allow your child to follow along and practice letter sounds to decode unfamiliar words while reading. Ask about the setting, characters, events, problems, and solutions of the story. Ask inferential questions not stated directly by the author. It helps to read materials that interest the child. Practice math standards of measuring, telling time/elapsed time, and counting money (especially how much change is expected while shopping). Practice with the children to memorize basic facts of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Also, ask how they arrived at their answers and critique their work so they know what is correct and incorrect.
Giving Thanks: Thank you for your continued support following through at home the learning taking place at school. It is such a valuable asset to your child’s education.
