The ninth grade students are being introduced to the Holocaust by reading a historical fictional novel called The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne.
The story allows us to engage in discussions that encourage thinking and learning about:
We will reading the story as a group, with a partner or independently and the students will be answering short and extended response questions and citing textual evidence, also.
We have finished reading the book and will be watching the movie and doing a comparison of the book and the movie. As a culminating activity, the students will be researching the Holocaust and it's ties to today's world.
