Classroom:  **Read and discussed pp. 272-275 and took notes.  We discussed the behavior of sound and the vibration that is needed to make sound.  We discussed the difference between volume, pitch and frequency.  What is an echo?  (the bouncing of sound off of hard surfaces).  We read and went over our Sound Notes.

Homework: **Reread pp. 272-275 and study notes

Classwork: **We observed sound being created in different ways: thick/thin string, long/short string, low tension/high tension and what we found out was that if the string in thick, long or has low tension it will produce a LOW PITCH/LOW FREQUENCY sound.  If the string is thin, short or has high tension it will produce a HIGH PITCH/HIGH FREQUENCY sound.

We learned that softer objects will absorb sound while harder surface objects will allow sound to bounce off and sometimes echo.

We also learned that light travels faster then sound, that is why we see the lightning during a storm before we hear the thunder.
