Reading Log Homework
Beginning ??(Info coming soon), a Weekly Reading Log will be sent home. The Reading Log will come home on Friday and will be due on the following Friday.
It is my goal for the students to continue to build their stamina and practice all aspects of becoming a better reader. As we know, reading is just not recognizing or sounding out words. Comprehension is also an important part of being a successful reader.
Out of school, students are to read a minimum of 60 minutes but can extend those minutes depending on their reading stamina. A completed Reading Log will need to have the date, title, author (if available), minutes read, and parent signature filled in before being sent back to school.
The following can count towards the 60 (or additional) minutes:
*Any reading material in the home
*Any reading assignment sent home (stories, articles, Scholastic News, etc.)
*Any library books already in the home or brought home from school
*Any stories read online (Bookflix, Book Adventure, Epic, etc.)
*iReady, Read Theory, etc.
*Any leveled book sent home in a book baggie with a Parent Pipeline Strategy
Thank you for your support and encouraging your child to practice reading at home. In school, I catch many students reading any chance they get, even if it is for two minutes while they are waiting for their row to get called to line up, for example. So, so exciting!!!
