ODOT Plow Blade Voting

A photo of each plow blade is posted on ODOT’s District 4 Facebook page located at https://www.facebook.com/ODOTD4.

This year students from the L.H.S. Art Club participated in ODOT’s Paint-a-Plow outreach program. Area schools from 6 counties participated, with a total of 22 entries. On behalf of the L.H.S. Art Club, I invite and encourage students, friends, family and co-workers to vote for Lowellville’s plow design. Voting begins on Tuesday, November 13th and continues for two weeks, ending on November 27th. The plow with the most “Likes” will be the winner.

Please support our students and vote as many times as possible for Lowellville’s design. Students did an outstanding job, as you will see when you bring up ODOT’s Facebook page. It is definitely the “Best” design.  A press release will be issued to the media in early December announcing the winner of the 2018 Paint-a-Plow program.

Thank you for your participation.

New Ohio Report Card

Just as we send home a report card to tell you how well your child is learning, our school also gets a Local Report Card each August from the Ohio Department of Education. This report tells our school and parents if we are doing a good job of educating our students. You can see our most recent report card at reportcard.education.ohio.gov.

Our school now gets letter grades of A-F on nine ways of measuring school success. One of our new letter grades is for “overall student progress.”

These letter grades should give you a clearer picture of how our school is doing. Over the next two years, the department of education will add new ways of measuring how well we are serving our students. Starting in August 2015, our school and others will get grades on 18 items in six categories. We also will get an overall letter grade. Similar report cards will be published for our school district as a whole.

You can learn more about Local Report Card grades and how they are determined at the website link above. If you have questions or concerns about our school’s performance in any of the areas listed on the report card, please contact the main office.

Welcome to the Lowellville Local School District's website. We appreciate your interest in our students, staff and schools. Our mission is academic excellence. All members of our staff strive to provide a quality learning environment for students having a broad range of abilities, interests and special needs. This learning community of excellence provides all students with the opportunity to develop their knowledge base, skills and attitudes to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens within a global community.

We encourage you to contact us directly if you need more information or you are unable to find it within our website. We continue to work on our website to provide as much information as possible. Enjoy learning more about the Lowellville Schools!

Attention Students and Parents: DRESS CODE CHANGE

On Wednesday, September 2nd, we created and met with a dress code committee representing students, parents and staff to review an unforeseen situation which involved whether shirts need to be tucked in.  According to the personal appearance guidelines in the Board approved handbook, "All tops must be tucked in."  Nevertheless, due to the style of today's youth and changing fashion, the committee recommended to do away with that provision; specifically, shirts may be worn outside of the pants/shorts as long as it is not excessively long or short as deemed by the staff.

We would like to thank everyone that contributed to the productive dialogue to ensure that Lowellville Schools remains the leader in Mahoning County.

Dress Code Committe Recommendations on 11-22-16

The dress code committee met on 11-21-16.  There were two revisions recommended to the dress code for elementary and high school students.  The revisions will be considered at the next board meeting.  The handbooks have been updated and posted on the web page for families to review.

Summary of revisions:

- Socks must be worn but there are no restrictions on the color of socks.  Knee highs and pantyhose must be uniform colors (black, navy, tan, beige, white).

- Students are permitted to have facial hair.
