The Lowellville High School Music Department is proud to announce that senior band member John Fitch has been selected as an Ohio All-State musician. Students competing for spots in All-State ensembles are required to submit audition recordings in May of the preceding year. Following a highly competitive audition process, ensemble members are selected. John won the spot of first-chair euphonium in the 2019 All-State Band. The All-State Band performed on Friday, February 1, in Cleveland in conjunction with the 2019 Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference.
At Lowellville High School, John is a member of the marching, concert, jazz, and pep bands. He serves as drum major for the marching band, and he is the band president. In addition to his activities at Lowellville, John has been selected as principal euphonium for the Ohio Band Directors Conference Honors Band, Ohio State University Honors Band, District 5 Honors Band, and Henry H. Stambaugh Concert Band. He also plays bass trombone in the Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the Lowellville High School Band has one or more students selected as All-State musicians.
