Good evening Lowellville Community,
This is Christine Sawicki, your new Superintendent. I know safety is on the minds of everyone given the
unfortunate event that occurred in May. Please know that safety is a top priority for me, the
administration, and the Board of Education. While final decisions have not been made yet on what new
safety initiatives will be implemented for the coming school year, it has been a topic discussed daily.
Please know that many safety initiatives you are hearing about in the news media that are being
considered or implemented in other school districts across the country have already been in place and
have been effective in Lowellville Schools. We learned from this incident that many of the safety
measures we had in place allowed us to keep students safe. That’s not to say the incident didn’t shed
light on areas we can and will improve upon.
Also, please understand that right now there are varying opinions amongst the school community as to
what new measures should be implemented. My job is to take all of the opinions and make decisions and
recommendations to the Board of Education that are in the best interest of all students. That is why I
have formed a Superintendent Ad hoc Safety Committee that will convene very soon. The Committee’s
first priority will be to quickly survey parents, students, and staff on their safety concerns and ideas for
improvement.
Please expect to see some changes implemented in time for the start of the school year and others that
may evolve and change over time. In the meantime, please feel free to call or email me with any
concerns and ideas you may have.
Thank you and never forget, we are Lowellville Strong!

Christine Sawicki, Lowellville Superintendent
