Recently, Jesse McClain spoke with both of Mrs. DeLuca's 7th grade language arts classes about the Holocaust and shared many artifacts with them including photographs, a Nazi flag, a Nazi helmet from a soldier, and a letter from a Jewish child while imprisoned in a concentration camp.
Jesse McClain is a Holocaust Educational Specialist for the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation. Jesse travels to schools and churches throughout the area speaking about the Holocaust. He currently teaches writing at YSU and taught 8th grade language arts for several years before that.
He also encouraged students to enter the current writing contest sponsored by the Jewish Community Center. Students may entire an essay, poem, artwork and/or film on "Why We Must Remember: Honoring the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz."
