Two Junior High Students Earn Writing Awards

We have two 7th grade students who have won a writing contest this year.

The contest was sponsored by The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation.

The contest was open to any student in the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys in grades 7-12.

This year's theme is "Why We Must Remember: Honoring the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz.

Congratulations to:

Joslyn Delsignore won for her poem,

"Silent Screams" for the 7-8th grade poetry category

Robert Loftus won for his essay,

"The Importance of Remembering the Holocaust" in the 7-8th grade essay category

Both students and their parents have been notified and as you can imagine they are thrilled and very proud of their achievement.

Due to our current circumstances they will not be having their traditional Holocaust commemoration event in which winners attend and are honored. However, they are having a virtual program tomorrow in which the students and their parents have been invited to attend.
