Current Announcements

Updated 2/26/25

  • Dear parents and guardians of the senior class of 2025, on the morning of Thursday, March 6, Nick Dubos from the Lowellville Foundation will speak to the graduating class about the 2025 Lowellville Foundation Scholarship application and process.  Please make sure your child is in attendance that day.  Mrs. Killingsworth will visit MCCTC that afternoon to distribute applications and explain the scholarship process to MCCTC students.

Applications are due to Mrs. Killingsworth by 2:45 pm on Friday April 4.

All applicants will need to be present for the essay writing portion on Thursday, April 10.  MCCTC applicants will write their essay that afternoon at the career center with Mrs. Killingsworth.

Recipients of the scholarship will be announced at the 2025 Senior Breakfast on Tuesday, May 20.  Please contact Mrs. Killingsworth or any member of the Lowellville Foundation with any questions, and best of luck to your child!

  • Invitations for the 2025 Senior Breakfast at Avion on the Water in Canfield will be mailed out this week to parents and guardians of all seniors.  Please RSVP to Mrs. Killingsworth by April 15.  Students are free.  Checks may be made out to Lowellville School District.

  • A Google document has been shared with all seniors, including MCCTC students, for listing students’ graduation party information.  If you would like your child’s graduation party information to be shared with the community, please have your child add his or her details.  Information must be entered by April 25, 2025.  Contact the Guidance Office with any questions.

  • A Google form has been shared with all seniors, including MCCTC students, for listing any scholarships earned (including merit scholarships).  This form is used to keep track of scholarships earned so that students may be recognized at our annual senior breakfast on May 20, 2025.  Please have your child add his or her scholarship information to this form.  Contact the Guidance Office with any questions.

  • As you know, Financial Aid Night had to be rescheduled due to the snow day we had last month.  In light of the FAFSA already being open and many students still needing to complete it, we will be offering a FAFSA workshop at 6pm on Thursday, February 13 in the cafeteria.  During this workshop, you will receive assistance with filling out the FAFSA for your child.  An expert will be on hand to walk you through the process.

Here’s what to bring that evening:

  • A charged personal device (tablet, laptop, Chromebook…)

  • Have an FSA ID created already (one for you and one for your child); information below about this.

  • If you have not yet completed the FAFSA, please plan to attend.  Feel free to contact Mrs. Killingsworth if you have any questions whatsoever!

  • Create your FSA ID at least 2-3 business days before Feb. 13.  You can do this easily and quickly at studentaid.gov.  The FAFSA cannot be completed without this information.

  • Which parent needs an FSA ID?  If you are married and filing separately, both spouses need an FSA ID.  If you are married and filing jointly, only one spouse needs to create an FSA ID.  It can also be the stepparent.  If you are divorced/never married, the parent who provides the most financial support creates the FSA ID.  If both parents support equally, either may create their FSA ID.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Yes, the rumors are true!  The FAFSA is now open!  This is required if you are going to college or trade school.

    How to do it:

    1. You and your parent/guardian create a FSA ID at: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch

    2. Use this ID to fill out the FAFSA online at:  https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

The earlier the better; doing so asap will help you earn more money and speed up the process of your school determining your total financial aid package.

The Financial Aid Office at YSU can help you with the FAFSA, even if you're not going to YSU.  Make an appointment by calling 330-941-1595

We will be holding a Financial Aid Night here at Lowellville on Thursday January 23 at 6pm (this is the soonest our speaker was available).  A speaker will go over how financial aid works and details about the FAFSA. Plan to attend with your parents or guardians!

  • Lowellville School is excited to announce the availability of online counseling through the Hazel Heart program.  Licensed counselors are available to talk to students from 7am to 7pm.  Sessions can be held during school or at home.  Ages 18+ may self refer.  Parents may refer their children.   If a teacher recommends a student for counseling, Mrs. Killingsworth or Mrs. Granitto will notify you first for consent. To make a referral or learn more, go to: https://getstarted.hazel.co/district/lowellvillek12 . Feel free to also contact the Guidance Office for more information!

  • Seniors who are planning to attend college or university should have applied to their programs by this point.  Please have your child see Mrs. Killingsworth if help is needed.  Seniors who are planning to go into the skilled trades need to be aware that applications for apprenticeships are often accepted during the fall of senior year.  Please have your child see Mrs. Killingsworth for assistance with this.
