Scholarships will be listed here as they become available for the 21-22 school year. Most scholarships begin taking applications around December. March and April are heavy months for scholarships.
Many scholarships have online applications. Scholarships that are not online (are paper forms) will be submitted by Guidance unless the scholarship commitee requires the student to directly submit.
Students are encouraged to keep track of deadlines for submission.
Some scholarships require letter(s) of recommendation. Students are encouraged to not wait until the last minute to ask for a letter from a teacher, coach, etc.
Many scholarships do not require a very high GPA, therefore students who are "average" are strongly encouraged to apply.
Many scholarships focus more heavily on local community involvement (volunteerism, charity, extracurriculars) more than GPA, so students are strongly encouraged to become involved community members as much as possible.
In preparation for receiving financial aid from colleges / universities and scholarships, parents need to complete the FAFSA, which opens October 1, 2021. Families should aim to have the FAFSA completed by December 1, 2021. YSU's Financial Aid office will help families with this if they would like, regardless of whether your child is planning on attending YSU or not.
Please revisit this page frequently as the school year continues and scholarship applications open. I will be visiting seniors throughout the year to update them on available scholarships.
Fastweb is a website that helps connect students to national scholarships that they may be eligible for. Students are encouraged to create a free account.
