Scholarships

Scholarships will be listed here as they become available for the 22-23 school year.  Most scholarships begin taking applications around October of senior year.

Students will be made aware of scholarships in three ways; monthly classroom visits, posting on the Class of 23 Google Classroom, and through a Google Sheet that lists them and their various details.  For online applications, the link to the application will be posted on the Class of 23 Google Classroom. For physical paper applications, they will be distributed in Economics/Financial Literacy class.

Students are responsible for keeping track of deadlines for submission.  Scholarship applications will not be accepted past the deadlines.

Some scholarships require letter(s) of recommendation.  Students are encouraged to not wait until the last minute to ask for a letter from a teacher, coach, etc.

Many scholarships do not require a very high GPA, therefore students who are "average" are strongly encouraged to apply.

Many scholarships focus more heavily on local community involvement (volunteerism, charity, extracurriculars) more than GPA, so students are strongly encouraged to become involved community members as much as possible.

In preparation for receiving financial aid from colleges / universities and scholarships, parents need to complete the FAFSA, which opens October 1, 2022.  Families should aim to have the FAFSA completed by December 1, 2022.  YSU's Financial Aid office will help families with this if they would like, regardless of whether your child is planning on attending YSU or not.

Please revisit this page frequently as the school year continues and scholarship applications open.  I will be visiting seniors throughout the year to update them on available scholarships.

Fastweb and Scholarships360 are websites that help connect students to national scholarships that they may be eligible for.  Students are encouraged to create a free account.
