(11th graders) Students study the origins of government as well as contemporary issues related to our system in the United States. This course will cover such topics as: foundations of American government, political behavior including voting and the electoral process, responsibilities and powers of the legislative/executive/judicial branches, examination of civil liberties and individual freedoms, study of U.S. domestic and foreign policy, and the role of state and local governments in a federal system.

(Mandatory for all students - 1.0 Social Studies Credit)
