Third Graders Rise to the Challenge of Conversing with Native Speakers!
Lowellville students in Mrs. Matisi's third grade classroom recently had the opportunity to speak with visitors from the Italian Consulate of Michigan. It can be scary to attempt to speak in a foreign language for the first time, but our Lowellville students don't back down from a challenge! Ciao Franco e Sandro!
Italiano II Wishes Buon giorno! to the Nation!
Italiano II students were featured on an episode of Channel One News and were given the opportunity to wake students up across the nation with a rowdy, "Buon giorno!" Watch here if you missed it!
Italian Penpals from Milano, Italia!
We have been corresponding with "amici di penna" (pen pals) in Milan, Italy. Here they pose with the letters they received from Lowellville students.
I nostri girasoli (Our Sunflowers)
Here's how the students added their personal touch and individual sunshine to our classroom! Each student was responsible for making a sunflower with a personal statement written to the best of their ability in Italian on each petal. Some small mistakes were made, but much like the students' language abilities, these sunflowers will serve as testaments to how much we have all grown by the end of our Italian courses.
Primo (Before!) Dopo (After!), 1st Nine Weeks
Grazie mille to the Riviera family for bringing in their Italian cousin, Giuseppe, to meet and speak with Lowellville students! 8th and 6th grade students had a great time practicing their speaking skills with a native Italian.
