As we conclude the third nine-week grading period, I want to take a moment to reflect on several recent events that truly highlight what Lowellville Local School District and our community are all about.
On March 12, Lowellville held its first-ever Shave-A-Thon in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to raise money for childhood cancer research. We are incredibly proud of the nine students and six staff members who volunteered to shave their heads in support of this important cause. Most importantly, I want to thank our students, staff, families, and community members for coming together to raise more than $17,000 for childhood cancer research. The generosity, compassion, and spirit shown by our school community were truly inspiring and are a wonderful example of what it means to be a Rocket.
Just one week later, on March 19, Lowellville hosted its first-ever Math 24 Tournament. We welcomed 13 schools and more than 275 students in grades 4–8 to compete in this exciting academic event. With a standing-room-only crowd of nearly 1,000 people, the evening was an incredible success. Lowellville is one of only three schools in Mahoning County to host an event of this kind, and we could not be more proud of the way our students, staff, and volunteers represented our district. The Math 24 Tournament showcased not only our students’ academic talents, but also the strong support and pride that exists throughout our community.
These events remind us that Lowellville is more than just a school district—it is a community built on tradition, compassion, excellence, and a commitment to supporting one another.
As we move into the final months of the school year, I encourage all students to remain engaged and continue giving their best effort each day. Regular attendance is essential to student success. Every day matters, every minute counts, and being present in school has a direct impact on learning, growth, and achievement.
Thank you for your continued support of Lowellville Local School District. Together, we continue to make Lowellville a special place for our students and families.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Christine Sawicki

Dear Lowellville Families,
Welcome to the 2025-26 school year at Lowellville Schools! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer. We’re excited to kick off another year filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities.
This year, we’re continuing our focus on strong academics across all grade levels, helping students develop the skills and knowledge they need for their next steps—whether that’s college, career, or other goals after graduation.
Attendance will also be a key focus, as consistent attendance is essential for student success. We’ll work closely with families to support regular attendance and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.
As we begin this new school year, my door is always open. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or ideas. Let’s make this year our best one yet!
I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as an assistant principal of the Lowellville
School District, and to be a part of a school community that values academic
excellence, strong relationships, and student-centered growth.
With 30 years of experience in education, I bring a deep commitment to supporting
students, empowering staff, and fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. I
believe that all students can thrive when they feel seen, supported, and inspired, and I
am dedicated to making that a daily reality here at Lowellville.
My goal is to build strong connections with students, families, and staff and to work
collaboratively toward our shared vision of success. I’m especially eager to listen, learn,
and partner with you in creating an environment where every student has the
opportunity to reach their full potential.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out. We
look forward to a fantastic year ahead and working together to support your child's
educational experience.
In advance, thank you for all of your support, and Go Rockets!
Best,
Jeff Hammond
